The Minakami Outdoor Festival is Japans biggest event for outdoor adventure sports. The festival has its routes in the “Adventure Festival” which was first started in Minakami in 2003 and draws between 3000-5000 people each year.
From 2017 the event has been re-branded as the “Minakami Outdoor Festival” or “MO fest” for short. The trade mark adventure tours will still remain but the future focus is on athletes – performances by the worlds top athletes and race events. It is our goal to make this event the premier outdoor adventure event in the world!

There are 3 main pillars of the event:
- Outdoor adventure races
Trail running, cycling, rafting, kayaking, SUP, multi-sport and more. Minakami is the perfect field for a wide variety of adventure races with its majestic mountains, national parks and the mighty Tone River. - Outdoor Experiences
Minakami has the largest menu for outdoor adventure sports in Japan and some truly WORLD CLASS experiences; rafting, canyoning, kayaking, canoeing, SUP, mountain biking, hiking, bungy jumping, hydro speed, rock climbing, tree cruising, pack rafting, ziplining and more! Over the festival all of Minakami’s operators join force to offer special deals on adventures. - Performance
Some of the worlds top outdoor adventure athletes will perform at the main grounds. Be prepared to be amazed! To add to the atmosphere we have a great selection of live music and DJ’s to keep the vibe.
To add to the festival there are a variety of local vendors providing delicious food and beverages.
